PLUMBING (DOMESTIC WATER & DRAINAGE) SYSTEMS – SCOPE OF WORK

The Plumbing scope of work includes the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of complete and fully operational domestic water supply and drainage systems, in compliance with project requirements, applicable international standards, and local authority regulations, ensuring reliability, hygiene, water efficiency, environmental compliance, and long-term operational performance.

1. Design & Engineering

• Verification of Water demand calculations and fixture unit analysis in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Domestic Water Supply Systems

• Verification and optimization of the Design of domestic cold water supply systems, including:

o Municipal water connections

o Underground and overhead water storage tanks

o Booster pump sets and pressure zoning

• Verification and optimization of the Design of domestic hot water systems, including:

o Hot water boilers and calorifiers

o Solar water heating systems

o Heat exchangers and circulation pumps

o Temperature control, balancing, and anti-scalding provisions

• Verification and optimization of the Design of Water Treatment Systems, including:

o Filtration systems

o Chemical dosing systems

o Water quality control and corrosion prevention measures

Drainage Systems

• Verification and optimization of the Design of sanitary drainage systems, including:

o Soil, waste, and vent (SWV) piping systems

o Gravity and pumped drainage systems (where applicable)

• Verification and optimization of the Design of rainwater drainage systems, including:

o Roof drainage and downpipes

o Siphonic rainwater drainage systems (where applicable)

• Verification and optimization of the Design of grease waste and oily water drainage systems (where applicable).

• Verification and optimization of the Design of sewage lifting stations, sump pits, and associated pumping systems.

• Verification and optimization of the Design of drainage venting systems to prevent siphonage and odor issues.

Layouts & Coordination

• Preparation of plumbing drawings and schematics, including:

o Cold and hot water supply piping

o Hot water recirculation systems

o Sanitary, waste, and rainwater drainage layouts

o Valves, cleanouts, traps, manholes, and accessories

• Design of water efficiency, reuse, and conservation measures where applicable.

• Coordination with architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, and fire fighting systems.

• Compliance with applicable local authority regulations and international standards.

• Value engineering to optimize capital cost, operating cost, and system performance.


2. Supply of Equipment & Materials

Domestic Water Supply Systems

• Water storage tanks (GRP / sectional / HDPE).

• Booster / transfer pump sets complete with control, valves, and accessories.

• Pressure reducing valves, flow meters, and control accessories.

Domestic Hot Water Systems

• Hot water boilers and calorifiers.

• Solar collectors, mounting systems, and accessories.

• Expansion vessels, safety valves, and temperature control devices.

• Booster / circulation pumps and control systems.

Filtration & Treatment Systems

• Sand, carbon, and cartridge filtration systems.

• Chemical dosing units and accessories.

• Water softeners (where applicable).

Drainage Systems

• uPVC, HDPE, cast iron, or other approved drainage piping systems.

• Floor drains, cleanouts, traps, gullies, and roof outlets.

• Manholes, inspection chambers, and access covers.

• Grease traps, oil interceptors, and sewage sumps (where applicable).

• Sewage and drainage pumps with controls and accessories.

Piping & Accessories

• Valves, fittings, joints, supports, hangers, and accessories.

• Thermal insulation, pipe sleeves, and identification systems.


3. Installation & Construction

• Installation of all domestic water supply and drainage systems in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.

• Installation of cold and hot water supply piping systems with proper support and insulation.

• Installation of hot water circulation, balancing, and control systems.

• Installation of sanitary, waste, vent, and rainwater drainage piping with correct slopes and alignments.

• Installation of sewage lifting stations, sump pits, grease traps, and oil interceptors.

• Installation of solar water heating systems including collectors, piping, and controls.

• Installation of filtration and chemical dosing systems with proper bypass arrangements.

• Installation of valves, meters, traps, cleanouts, and access points.

• Provision of proper pipe supports, slopes, insulation, labeling, and identification.

• Coordination with other trades to avoid clashes and ensure smooth execution.

• Implementation of approved safety procedures and quality control measures.


4. Testing & Pre-Commissioning

• Hydrostatic pressure testing of all water supply piping systems.

• Flushing, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of potable water systems.

• Testing of domestic hot water systems for temperature stability, circulation, and balancing.

• Testing of sanitary and rainwater drainage systems including water tests and flow tests.

• Testing of sewage pumps, lifting stations, and control systems.

• Testing of filtration, chemical dosing, and grease treatment systems.

• Verification of system flow rates, pressures, slopes, and temperature settings.


5. Commissioning & Authority Approval

• Commissioning of domestic cold and hot water supply systems.

• Commissioning of hot water boilers, calorifiers, and solar water heating systems.

• Commissioning of sanitary, waste, rainwater, and pumped drainage systems.

• Performance testing under full-load and part-load operating conditions.

• Verification of water quality, drainage performance, and system hygiene.

• Coordination with consultants and authorities for inspections and approvals.

• Rectification of deficiencies identified during commissioning or authority inspections.


6. Documentation, Training & Handover

• Submission of complete as-built drawings and schematic diagrams.

• Submission of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, warranties, and technical data sheets.

• Submission of test reports, certificates, and compliance documentation.

• Training of client and facility management personnel on system operation and maintenance.

• Final handover of the plumbing systems in a fully operational, tested, and approved condition.
